Empowering Agricultural Resilience
Croatia’s Zadar County (ZDC) is a benchmark of agricultural vitality amidst the challenges posed by climate hazards. Our collaborative initiative, spearheaded by partners like Croatia Osiguranje (CO) and Zadar County, aims to bolster agricultural resilience and safeguard the livelihoods of local farmers.
Agricultural Challenges and Climate Risks
Zadar County faces various climate risks, including droughts, heatwaves, hailstorms, and spring frost, which pose significant threats to agricultural productivity and sustainability. To address these challenges, our project focuses on testing innovative solutions, ranging from parametric insurance mechanisms to climate risk assessments and microcredit initiatives tailored to the needs of farmers.
Stakeholder Engagement
Central to our approach is the active engagement of stakeholders across the agricultural value chain, including farming organisations, input suppliers, logistic companies, produce supply partners, and the insurance sector represented by Croatia Osiguranje. By fostering collaboration and co-creation, we seek to develop tailored solutions that address the specific needs and challenges faced by the agricultural community in Zadar County.
Policy Recommendations and Innovation
Our initiative aims to drive policy recommendations that are co-developed with local stakeholders, ensuring that they are grounded in the realities of the agricultural landscape in Zadar County. Additionally, we are testing innovative climate risk insurance products, services, and pricing methods to enhance financial protection for farmers and promote sustainable agricultural practices.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
To gauge the effectiveness of our interventions, we have established key performance indicators (KPIs) tailored to Zadar County. These include the development of regional policy recommendations, the testing of climate risk insurance products and public-private collaborations, and the implementation of innovative financial solutions. These KPIs serve as benchmarks to assess our progress and drive continuous improvement in agricultural resilience within Zadar County.
