Bavaria is a critical pilot region for the Soteria project, focusing on enhancing resilience in the agricultural sector. Collaborating with a diverse array of partners, including Allianz Agrar (AZA), HSWT, UFZ and Bayerische Bauern Verband-Service, our consortium strives to address the unique challenges posed by climate hazards in Bavaria’s agricultural landscape.

In Bavaria, we are partnering with Allianz Agrar, who are leading the charge in insurance expertise. This collaboration is complemented by academic insights from HSWT and UFZ, alongside industry perspectives from Bayerische Bauern Verband-Service, our partnership ecosystem fosters innovation and resilience.

Engaging stakeholders is paramount to our approach. We collaborate closely with key Bavarian stakeholders, including Bayerische Bauern Verband-Service (BBV) and the Bavarian State Research Center for Agriculture (LfL), to co-develop tailored solutions that address the specific needs and challenges faced by Bavarian farmers.

In Bavaria, we’re pioneering parametric insurance solutions tailored to mitigate the impacts of climate hazards such as droughts, heat waves, hail, and spring frost. Through innovative financial and public-private collaboration models, we aim to enhance climate risk insurance accessibility and effectiveness in safeguarding Bavaria’s agricultural sector.

Bavaria grapples with a spectrum of climate hazards threatening agricultural productivity and livelihoods. From prolonged droughts and scorching heatwaves to devastating hailstorms and untimely spring frost, our project focuses on building resilience against these challenges.

Our KPIs in Bavaria include co-developing regional policy recommendations with stakeholders, testing innovative climate risk insurance products, and fostering new public-private collaborations. These KPIs serve as benchmarks to track our journey towards enhancing climate resilience in Bavaria’s agricultural sector.
