The Generalitat Valenciana partners presented the Valencia pilot at the Conservation and Management of Wetlands to Tackle Climate Change event in February 2024!

Ciro Pascual Garrido from Generalitat Valenciana led the discussion on “Insurance Innovation and the Nature Value of Wetlands”. Valencia is a key region for SOTERIA to pave the way for ecosystem-based adaptation strategies in vulnerable coastal areas. Here is the role Valencia is playing in our project:

Pioneering Data Hub: Valencia is set to become one of the three pilot regions for SOTERIA´s Regional Data Hubs, an initiative collecting data on climate-related risk and losses that aims to replicate the case of the Norwegian knowledge bank while also liaising with the EU risk data hub crucial work.

Testing New Criteria: The team is at the forefront of designing innovative insurance and investment solutions related to ecosystem-based adaptation for highly vulnerable coastal areas, with new insights into nature’s role in risk mitigation.

From establishing Regional Data Hubs to testing innovative insurance solutions, Valencia’s pilot projects exemplify Soteria’s forward-thinking approach with initiatives aimed at wetland conservation and climate resilience.
