In Valencia, the recent convening of the 2nd General Assembly of the Soteria Climate project, organised by BC3 – Basque Centre for Climate Change, marked a pivotal moment in pursuing climate resilience. Over two days, stakeholders engaged in discussions and workshops, assessing the project’s progress and highlighting benefits for associated partners and case studies.

This meeting provided an opportunity to underscore Valencia’s pivotal role as a pilot case study within Soteria. Valencia faces a spectrum of climate challenges and as part of the project, Valencia serves as a testing ground for climate risk insurance products and strategies.

Central to Valencia’s participation in Soteria is the establishment of a Regional Data Hub, serving as an informed risk assessment and mitigation strategy. One notable initiative within Valencia’s pilot study revolves around the exploration of wetlands, exemplified by the Marjal dels Moros, as natural buffers against coastal risks.

By harnessing collaboration, data-driven insights, and insurance solutions, Soteria and its partners aim to redefine the landscape of climate resilience in the selected regions
