Soteria’s Collaborative Efforts in Bavaria and Saxony-Anhalt

In March 2024, Soteria partners from Genillard & Co. GmbH, Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ), and Hochschule Weihenstephan-Triesdorf convened for a strategic co-designing session in Bavaria and Saxony-Anhalt. These regions, known for their agricultural landscapes, grapple with the looming threats posed by climate hazards, making this collaborative effort all the more crucial.

During the session, stakeholders embarked on a comprehensive analysis of roles in establishing Sustainable and Climate-Resilient Public-Private Partnership (PPP) models. With a keen focus on the role of the EU, particularly in agricultural policy Silo II and EU Green Deal regulation, the discussions aimed to chart a path towards robust and adaptable frameworks capable of withstanding climate challenges.

One of the key outcomes of the session was the drafting of a target insurance system tailored to the unique needs of farmers in these regions. Delving into the nuances of premium funding and insurance product adaptation, stakeholders explored the potential advantages and disadvantages, aiming to strike a delicate balance between financial sustainability and climate adaptation measures.

Additionally, the team proactively anticipated the regulatory impacts of upcoming insurance company reporting under the EU Taxonomy Regulation and a dedicated Delegated Act (Article 8). By considering potential liabilities for the sector and exploring avenues for compliance, Soteria partners showcased their commitment to navigating regulatory frameworks while driving meaningful change.

This collaborative effort underscores Soteria’s unwavering dedication to actionable solutions in high-risk areas. By harnessing collective expertise and fostering innovative approaches, Soteria continues to spearhead initiatives aimed at building climate resilience and safeguarding communities against the impacts of climate change.
