Throwback to UFZ’s partner´s participation in a multi-stakeholder event, “How do I take precautions? Danger of heavy rain and flooding,” hosted by the city of Plauen and BDZ (Education and Demonstration Center).

The dialogue united city administrators and BDZ representatives, and engaged citizens in discussions around Plauen’s historical flood, sharing the measures implemented to restore infrastructure, and the challenges faced.

It highlighted the need for collaboration in flood protection.

Citizens played a vital role by sharing concerns and innovative suggestions, particularly on navigating planning uncertainties and funding hurdles.

Their active participation reaffirmed the importance of community involvement in safeguarding neighborhoods.

Featuring Ms. Stich from the BDZ and Mr. Golz from the HTW Dresden, the event discussed several topics including risk mapping, flood prevention certificates, and enhancing protection infrastructure.

The multi-stakeholder perspective and the involvement of citizens are central to SOTERIA. This is a critical element for our project and the reason behind the communities of practice. We’re proud to contribute to such impactful initiatives and look forward to continued collaboration for resilient, flood-ready communities.
