11 June 2025 marked the launch of the ROSSETA-UV Lab in Marjal dels Moros, Valencia. This initiative brought together the University of Valencia, RESTORE4Cs, SOTERIA, and Wetlands4Change to advance ecosystem restoration and climate resilience in the region. The Lab is designed to be a trusted space for open dialogue and collaboration, where diverse actors can come together to share ideas and co-create solutions that strengthen collective resilience around the wetland.

Introducing the ROSSETA-UV Living Lab

The ROSSETA-UV Living Lab is a collaborative hub for climate adaptation in Valencia. It serves as a dynamic platform focused on:

• Co-creation: Bridging academia, government, businesses, and citizens.
• Interdisciplinary research: Merging science, policy, and local insights.
• Citizen science and governance: Empowering communities to shape environmental solutions.

By bringing together academia, public administration, businesses, and civil society, the ROSSETA-UV Lab will help test and improve ecological restoration techniques in one of Spain’s most important coastal wetlands.

Why It Matters?

Launched in celebration of World Environment Day, the ROSSETA-UV Lab embodies an open innovation approach uniting universities, government institutions, industry, and local communities. It is envisioned as a vibrant platform for collaboration, citizen participation, cross-disciplinary research, and inclusive environmental decision-making.

The Foundations of the ROSSETA-UV Lab

The ROSSETA-UV Lab builds on the research and engagement activities developed under two European Projects, SOTERIA and  RESTORE4Cs, where the Marjal dels Moros wetland serves as a pilot ecosystem. The project is led by the University of Valencia.

Institutional Backing

In addition, the initiative benefits from strong institutional support from the Centre for Environmental Education of the Valencian Community (CEACV), the Generalitat Valenciana, and the City Council of Sagunt.
